Yelle - French Superstar

Probably the hottest French Export in a long time, Yelle is taking over the world with her fresh and addicting electropop sound.

Born on January 17th, 1983 in Saint-Brieuc as Julie Budet, she slid into the music scene right away due to her father's fame in the CĂ´tes d'Armor area. She plays the piano, tried out acting, and played in a few bands. Her musical satisfaction and unity was found in producer GrandMarnier who helped her produce her first hit single "Je veux te voir", as well as her debut album "Pop-Up" in 2007.

She is the perfect example of how the technology of today can make you famous over night. Yelle caught the attention of countless myspace users when posting the early version of her soon-to-be-hit "Je veux the voir" called "Short Dick Cuizi". Teasing the Parisian hip-hop band TTC member brought her over 2000 plays in just two days and resulted in world wide fame.

With witty, sexy, scream-out-loud lyrics, inluding dedications to small breast ("85A"), lesbian temptations ("Les Femmes"), and dildos ("Mon Meilleur Ami"), she speaks every woman's mind and that's why I love her.

Her song "A Cause Des Garcons" was featured on the BBC Three series "Lily Allen and Friends", as well as on the video games "Need for Speed: Pro Speed", and "UEFA Euro 2008".

Give her a listen!

Miss Li - Swedish Greatness

Being in America, thousands of miles away from my home country and continent, it is really hard to keep up with the music industry overseas because it rarely happens that a European band gets the chance for a US-wide breakthrough and therefor a nationwide popularity and presence in the media.

So when I talked to one of my friends recently, she was getting ready to go to a Miss Li concert and was outrageously shocked when I, of course, didn't have a clue who she was. Thankfully, she felt the need of not letting me drown in my Americanized musical ignorance (no offence people) and send me the link to one of Miss Li's songs and I fell in love instantly! Her sound is fresh and I've never heard anything like it before. It is no surprise to me that her music has actually been featured in shows like "Weeds" and "Grey's Anatomy" (both with the song "Don't try to fool me"), as well as in an Apple ipod Nano 5G commercial ("Bourgeois Shangri-La").

Miss Li, born as Linda Carlsson on Juli, 6th 1982 in Borlaenge, Sweden, now lives in Stockholm, eagerly works on her career that only started in 2007 with her debut album "Late Night Heartbroken Blues" but was already followed by four more LPs, including a Best Of.
I really hope that more people over here will give her and her music a serious chance because they don't know what they are missing!!!

I heart her very much <3

You can find her songs to download on iTunes and amazon.com.
